BR50-Cup Hamminkeln
Not much mention of this on the forum. Markus Feldmann and the rest of the German Team are holding an open competition on the 26th October 2009. This is open to all, not just UK team members.
The Germans are using this event to enter their World Postal scores, so should be some good shooters there.
Hamminkeln looks about 90 miles from Rotterdam, being on the Dutch/German border, so not to bad to get to, especially from the south of the UK.
Anybody interested should step forward and let themselves be known so we can see how many and what arrangements need to be made.

Snipe, that's great. I live about 7 miles north of Darlington, I'll let you know when you can pick me up
So what's the story behind the Turbo then, I'm guessing it's a used one - how did you get it into the UK?

hi brian
i got the turbo from a uk dealer who bought it when he lived in the states.
he only used it on a small number of occassions but he did show me the 5 shot groups he was getting with it at 50 and 100 yards they where tiny.
i will be giving it a test run next week so will let you know how it shoots.

Snipe,
That gun does look good, I’m looking at joining team Turbo too. But don’t let them question your manhood for shooting a pink gun. My next one will be purple, the colour of royalty.
Road trips are great fun, but remember to pack in 2 things for Brian, a bib for the drive over (he won’t stop drooling once he see’s it) and after he seen it shoot, tissues for the drive home.

It looks an old ‘un to me Peter, probably 2nd or 3rd hand, barrels probably shot out and to be honest, who wants to own a pink gun.
I’ll have a word with Snipe at the UK Championships and make him a fair offer for it (considering the condition)

I would love to have seen some of them fax’s. I hope Mr. Calfee had lots of paper in the machine. _________________ "A rimfire that shoots great is a complete marriage of all components and of the shooter's need to be aware of everything possible." - Bill Myers |

Hi Brian, Peter,
Just to put the record straight I was the RFD to sell the Turbo to Snipe, Its 9 years old and one of "Flash Ebert's Mk I actions. Built for a friend of mine who only put less than a 1000 rounds through it before selling to me. I had it in my cupboard for quite a while and again only put less than 1000 through the barrel. I was a Cenrefire benchrester for very many years, at the time (2001) not much interest in 22 BR here in the UK so did not get much use. It does shoot 5shot groups of .25" will 5 group agg. of .28 to .3 with 10X on a good day.
No telexes between me and Bill Calfree, there is some debate about who smithed the rifle though.
Hope all this is of interest to someone but watch out that rifle will win something !!
All the best of shooting to everyone

Thanks for that TJ, it was of interest. Good to see some quality rifles from the States making it over here and looking forward to seeing how it shoots. (no pressure Snipe)
The only way we can get Turbo’s over here is through Kelbly’s and I’ve been waiting over a month now for a price.

Snipe,
If you look on the barrel near the action you might find a couple of letters or something stamped in, that will be the gunsmiths mark. If it's there you should be able to find out who put it together. The good news is they don't start doing there best work until after 5,000 rounds.
Brian,
I thought you would of been on the wait list for a Bill Myer action.

I’m waiting to see/hear of a few out in the field and see what others think of them. Just because it’s new doesn’t mean it’s any better than anything else. The action is based around the theory of barrel indexing, which after doing a small amount of testing with, I’m not convinced.
In a recent post over on Benchrest Central a guy made a lengthy post, in which he stated the three most important things in building an accurate rifle are 1) the barrel, 2) the barrel and 3) the barrel.
Personally I agree 100% with this. If Snipes Turbo, Bills FWB or your Hall/Broughton turn out to be match winners, my betting is its 90% down to the barrel. The action/ammo selection/bedding etc. etc. make up the other 10% (you do need someone to point it in the right direction; I’m talking purely the rifles accuracy here)

Let me know when you get your answer Brian as I have been waiting 2 weeks for a price on a whole sporter set up, so i figure when you hear from them, I will hear back 2 weeks after that... _________________ Bill Collaros

I wouldn't bet on that Bill, sent three emails, still waiting for a reply. _________________ "A rimfire that shoots great is a complete marriage of all components and of the shooter's need to be aware of everything possible." - Bill Myers |
