Hi all,
I am new to the forum.
I was a serious 10m air pistol shooter and have dabbbled with shooting rifles. Unfortunately my back does not enjoy the experience.
I am seriously considering air rifle bench rest shooting and would like to know which of the following I have to shoot would meet the requiremts of UKBR22.
FWB 300S open sights but could fit a scope.
Air arms TX 200
A Daystate MK3 which is my bothers and if I take it up he will follow.
All are .177
I am not keen to buy a new rifle as yet hence the questions.

Hi Al,
Welcome to the forum.
FWB 300 scoped with a maximum 6.5X would fit into the International Sporter Class.
If memory serves, the TX200 is a springer and I wouldn't even attempt to use one off a rest.
DS MK3 will fit any of the other classes depending on what scope you use and the all up weight.
Regards,

Hi and welcome
Yes both the 300S and the Daystate would be suitable , If you wanted to use the FWB in the other classes other than International Sporter you could uprate the spring to give it more power , these guys would be able to supply you with a custom kit including higher power spring should you want to uprate it - Only registered users can see links on this forum! Thanks for the replies looks like it's the 300s up against my brother.
The club I use does not have benches so I plan to make one I have found some data on that.
I have seen differing types of bags would this type be ok as a start they seem a good price?

Those bags would be just about useable. But you really want to get an adjustable front rest. The cadwell or Stoney point ones at around £60 ish are very useable. MTM also do a plastic front rest which My daughter was using for about a year, they are avilable for about £35 but I would recommend one of the metal ones to be honnest.
As for rifles then I would reccomend a PCP if you can, at least then you will not have to remove the gun from the rest to reload as you would with a SSP or spring gun. The time taken is not going to be a problem if you are shooting indoors but if you are outside and also having to wait for the wind then may end up pushed for time.
One other thought for the FWB300 is make sure that your scope has adaquate eyerelife, you don't want it comming back and hitting you! It's about 30 years since I shot a 300 so I'm not to sure just how far the action slides.

Keep it simple and cheap ....... under UKBR22 rules, a bipod is permitted, is perfectly adequate and gives good results, as do bags.
Leave the FWB alone ........ as Robb says, if you fancy progressing into International Sporter, it's ideal.
The MkIII is as good an all round rifle as you can get and qualifies in all three classes if you have a good piece of variable glass on top. Always something of interest on the Airgun BBS sales section.
Yes, you can have the singing, the dancing, the bells and all the whistles ..... but you don't have to.
As for the brother ....... you need the competition and someone to share the experience with, though it's not nice getting your a$$ whopped with your own gun ....... believe me I know!
Welcome, and here's dirt in your eye!

Thanks for the replies.
I would not want to modify the FWB as it gets used in the odd bell competion. And not sure how the recoil system would deal with the extra load.
