Hya Guys,
I have looked through a number of scopes over the years from £100 jobs to the £1,500, brands like Tasco, Nikon, Nightforce, Weaver and Schmitt & Bender just to name a few. The scope I have had a for the last couple of years is the Nikko Stirling 10x50x60 and it has been a great scope and even the new version is a great scope, but with the new build I am currently doing I decided to look around at what on the market. I had read what Carl had written in Target Shooter and also What Alan had written on here about Sightron but had never seen one.
After contacting AIM Field Sports they sent me down the Series II 36x42 mil dot. When I took it out of the box my first impressions is wow this is dinky little scope, but looking through it I was amazed at the very fine crosshair it has as it is the finest one I have ever seen on a scope. The power of the light that it lets through is very impressive, but the telling is when I put it in front of our benchrest targets. All I can say is that for the first time I can see the target clearly, it is amazing scope that has only been on the market for the last two years and is under sold as these scopes should be flying off the shelf. What I have also done is ordered an optical booster which increases the magnification by three times, this again was cover by Carl in the magazine. The optical booster is made and sold by Bulzeyepro.com and will screw onto the scope and as Carl has said you don’t lose anything from the scope. Another thing about the scope is that it only weighs in at 17oz and which is great for a 10 ½ lb rifle.
If you live in the UK then you can see the scope and the others they have produce at the British Shooting Show at Newark at the end of the month (see Target Shooter Magazine for details). The price is fantastic at £379 and I as others would put this on par with Leopard and Nightforce with the optics, but don’t take my word for it have a look at one for yourself.

It is amazing isn't it. That a scope of that quality can be had for under £400 is amazing. I was thinking of going for the Weaver T36, trouble is that Weaver is now brought in by Edgar Bros, who don't seem to interested in the target models, bit like they were when they had the Sightrons. I was quoted around £600 for the Weaver, if and when they got some in from the USA, that was back in October / November.
Which Bulzeye Pro unit did you get? I have been thinking about one as well.

Andy, the Bullzeye’s don’t increase the magnification by 3x, it’s more like 25 – 30%.
Alan, Optics Warehouse advertise the Weaver T36 at a little over £400, which is about as good as you'll get over here.

Hi Brian.
Your right about the booster ,I bought one of a guy from Germanyand it boosts my weaver T16 to about 20 power,I bought another of another fellow on here and that really does boost the power, don't know the make but Brian Fox sold them at one time.
Andy the Sightron is a good scope right enough but in my opinion is not as good as the weaver T36 for 22 bench,But It is priced Right enough and as with other stuff you gets what you pay for.

I have never had the chance to look through one of the Weavers, so could not comment on how good they are. Brian I did not go the Optics whearhouse route as I have a local source that enables me to get stuff at trade, provided it comes through the offical importer. He is very good but will not deal with grey imports, especially when it is cutting out, for him, one of his better importers / wholesalers. That made the Sightron a really good deal for me though. |

I admire your principles Alan. Not having any though is easier on the wallet.
I’m sure the Sightron is a good scope. I have a SIII 6-24 on a centrefire and am more than happy with it.
